Dear colleagues!

Facing the COVID-19 pandemic and its various effects, countries around the world are taking action towards the safety and health of their inhabitants. Given these unprecedented circumstances, the summer school was postponed to the next year, which was initially scheduled to take place from 26 JULY to 10 AUGUST, 2021.

Yours faithfully,
Organizing Committee.

Introduction to Materials Science

The courses of the summer school 2019 on the basis of Novosibirsk State Technical University included lectures on the introduction to future materials. This school was devoted to new challenges and solutions in materials science, like biomaterials, smart materials, ceramic materials, etc. Participants got basic knowledge on phase diagrams and material selection errors which may lead to catastrophes. They learned about techniques such as casting technology, working with an optical microscope, hydrostatic weighing, testing of mechanical properties, and X-Ray analysis.

In addition to training courses, various cultural and sports events and trips to Altai were organized for students. Participants of the summer school 2019 along with students of NSTU took part in such activities as rafting, hiking, volleyball, horse riding, paintball. Got acquainted with the nature of Russia and Altai, having lived for a week at a tourist base.

Russian language courses are held during the summer school. Be able to deal with everyday situations in a Russian-speaking environment and conduct simple conversations. This two-week introductory course covers listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture.

German Student 2019
The summer school was a really good program and I would suggest the programm to everyone who wants to go to russia. Because the communication to the other student was fantastic and you got a true look at the social life in russia. You don´t get this look if you would come as a tourist. The Trip to Altai was really really amazing and we did so much wonderful things there! I will never forget this time and I am very thankful for all the support! Thank you very much!

The summer school at the NSTU was such a great experience for me even though I was not from this field of studies. I met amazing people and discovered Russia in a totally different way to what I expected it to be like. I would go back again so I would also recommend it to everybody who has the chance to attend it.
